Description

The Cheetah turbocharger for the 2017–2023 6.6L L5P Duramax is a brand-new, stock-appearing, drop-in replacement that supports up to 650 RWHP and retains full factory functionality including the exhaust brake. It uses an exclusive 63mm compressor wheel paired with an Inconel turbine wheel to deliver quick spool-up, smooth throttle response, strong top-end power, and the signature Cheetah sound.

This unit is sold with an actuator pre-installed and ready to ship. No modifications are needed prior to installation.

This turbo directly replaces OEM turbo part numbers 12723305 (2017–2019) and 12723083 (2020–2023) and is best used with the stock intake horn and airbox for optimal performance and reliable MAF readings. The turbo comes complete with new gaskets for EGR connections, PCV to compressor cover, coolant feed/return, oil feed and drain, turbine housing to catalyst, and the pedestal, and carries a 1‑year limited warranty with EO# D‑834‑19 for emissions compliance.

Optimal Configuration and Recommendations

For optimal performance in most applications, the Cheetah should be installed in conjunction with the stock intake horn and stock airbox. Use of aftermarket intake horns and airboxes have been found to affect the reliability of MAF sensor readings, which will negatively impact overall turbocharger performance.  Peak performance for the Cheetah on a stock truck application will be achieved in conjunction with the factory intake horn and airbox.

Consideration should be made when incorporating additional aftermarket products that can impact MAF sensor readings or lower the overall engine rpm, these changes include: aftermarket intakes and air filters, aftermarket intake horns, throttle sensitivity boosters, or larger diameter tires.  Stock application trucks that incorporate some, or all of the aforementioned items may, under various circumstances and load conditions at very low engine rpm’s, experience compressor surging. The likelihood of this occurring is higher on 10-speed transmission models. In these circumstances, the transmission should be downshifted to avoid running the engine at low rpms and “lugging of the engine”.
