Remanufactured Ford 6.0L FICM - 2003-2004
This Synapse remanufactured 48‑volt Ford 6.0L FICM is a complete, pre‑programmed replacement Fuel Injection Control Module for 2003–2004 6.0L Powerstroke trucks, built for customers who want OE‑style performance and reliability with a stock calibration. It restores proper injector control, cold‑start behavior, and drivability on Super Duty and Excursion applications without adding any performance tuning.
Fits 2003–2004 Ford F‑250, F‑350, F‑450, F‑550, and Excursion with 6.0L Powerstroke.
For trucks built after 9/22/2003 to the end of 2004. (those built before 9/22/2003 use the early‑build module seen here.
To ensure correct fitment:
Check the driver’s door jamb build‑date sticker and confirm your truck is a mid‑2003 or 2004 build, not an early‑build 2003.
Compare the part number family on your original FICM to the OE and aftermarket cross‑reference list on the product page.
If there is any doubt, contact NorCal Diesel Performance with your VIN so the correct FICM version can be confirmed before ordering.
Complete remanufactured FICM
Fully remanufactured module with failed and high‑risk components replaced, not just reprogrammed. Each unit is inspected, repaired at known weak points, and then tested under load to verify consistent 48V output and proper injector firing on all eight cylinders.
48V stock tune calibration
Programmed with a factory‑equivalent 48‑volt stock calibration for 2003–2004 6.0L trucks. This preserves OE drivability and power levels while eliminating issues caused by a weak or failing FICM. Performance tuning is optional on this part number.
Direct‑fit, plug‑and‑play replacement
Uses the original connectors and mounting locations on 2003–2004 6.0L Powerstroke applications. In normal cases, no dealer reflash is required—install the module, reconnect the harness, clear diagnostic codes, and road‑test the vehicle.
Broad OE and aftermarket cross‑reference coverage
Built to replace a wide range of factory and reman part numbers used on 2003–2004 FICMs, including common Ford OE and aftermarket catalog numbers. This makes the Synapse unit a versatile replacement for many labeled variants of the same underlying module.
All PHP tunes are built around optimized inductive heating and control strategies to improve cold starts, throttle response, and injector behavior.
Stock Tune
Retains factory power and fueling strategy.
Ideal for customers who simply want a reliable, OE‑style replacement without additional performance changes.
Economy Tune
Focuses on improved throttle response and fuel economy with no major horsepower increase.
Great choice when the ECM already has an aggressive performance tune and the goal is smoother drivability rather than more fueling.
Atlas 40 Tune
Typically adds about 40 horsepower with noticeably better off‑idle response and stronger pull through the mid‑range.
Very popular for mild to heavy towing where customers want better acceleration without pushing exhaust gas temperatures too high, and often still suitable for trucks without head studs.
Atlas 80 Tune
Roughly 80 horsepower over stock with a more aggressive fueling curve, ideal for spirited daily driving or light towing.
For heavy towing, head studs and EGT monitoring are strongly recommended to keep cylinder pressures and temperatures in check.
Hercules Tune
Maximum‑effort option, commonly associated with 100+ horsepower gains and the most aggressive fueling.
Best suited for drag racing and performance builds with head studs, upgraded exhaust, strong fuel system, and continuous EGT monitoring; not recommended for towing.
All tunes are designed to improve throttle response, cold‑start behavior, and overall drivability while eliminating the characteristic injector “buzz” when paired with healthy injectors and ECM tuning.
This stock‑tune FICM is frequently used to resolve FICM‑related codes such as:
FICM‑specific and power codes
P0611 – Fuel Injection Control Module Performance
P1378 – FICM Supply Voltage Circuit Low
P1379 – FICM Supply Voltage Circuit High (less common)
Injector circuit codes often triggered by low FICM voltage or driver issues
P0261, P0264, P0267, P0270, P0273, P0276, P0279, P0282 – Injector Circuit Low (Cylinders 1–8)
P0262, P0265, P0268, P0271, P0274, P0277, P0280, P0283 – Injector Circuit High (Cylinders 1–8)
Contribution/balance codes that may be influenced by FICM problems
(especially when multiple cylinders are affected and FICM voltage is low)
P0263, P0266, P0269, P0272, P0275, P0278, P0281, P0284 – Cylinder Contribution/Balance (Cylinders 1–8)
These codes do not prove the FICM is bad by themselves, but when combined with low FICM voltage, hard starts, and rough running, the module is a primary suspect.
Drivers typically see one or more of the following before replacing the module:
Hard cold starts or no‑start
Long crank times in cold weather, rough start‑up, or intermittent no‑start conditions that often improve when the engine warms up.
Rough idle and misfires
Rough, rolling idle and misfire complaints, especially during the first few minutes after start‑up, which may clear up as engine temperature increases.
Loss of power and poor throttle response
Sluggish acceleration, flat throttle response, and a general lack of power even when fuel pressure, boost, and mechanical components check out.
Injector “buzz” and abnormal noise
Excessive ticking or buzzing from the injector area caused by inconsistent injector control from a weak FICM.
Random stalling or cutting out
Engine stalling at idle or low speeds, or random cut‑outs while driving, often accompanied by FICM or injector‑related fault codes.
When these symptoms are present and the batteries, alternator, wiring, and fuel system are verified to be in good condition, replacing the FICM with a quality reman unit is usually the most effective repair.
Warranty
Synapse remanufactured FICMs include a 1‑year warranty for the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship of the module itself. The warranty covers internal failures of the FICM and does not cover damage caused by low system voltage, weak batteries, alternator issues, contaminated connectors, wiring faults, improper installation, or abuse.
Core charge and returns
An upfront core charge is applied at the time of purchase and is refunded once your original FICM core is returned within the required time and passes inspection as rebuildable.
As with most diesel electronics, once the FICM has been installed it is considered non‑returnable except for warranty evaluation. Customers should confirm build date and part number before installation.
