FAQ

Do I need head studs?

Yes. The head stud set is the one required option, and each kit takes one set. Factory torque-to-yield head bolts are single-use, so the base price includes Tracktech studs; ARP 2000 and ARP 625+ studs are available for an added cost. Follow the stud maker's included instructions for installation.

Why only one head gasket?

The Cummins is an inline six with a single cylinder head, so it takes one head gasket.

Does this fit a 2007.5 truck?

No. Trucks built from 2007.5 on have the 6.7L Cummins. Use our 2007.5-2018 6.7L kit.

Shop tech notes for the 5.9L Cummins (optional reading)
  • Inspect the injector connector tubes when the injectors come out. Worn or damaged tubes can leak and cause fueling problems.
  • Past high mileage, have the head checked for warping and cracks before reassembly.
  • If coolant was getting into the oil, flush the cooling system and change the oil and coolant.
