All 6.0L Ford owners know high pressure oil leaks are a problem. One of the main issues with long crank and hard start concerns is the high pressure oil system leaking down. In 2004 the Ford 6.0L went to a "Wavy" high pressure oil rail. That means the rail had more oil reserve and was a universal fit for the left and right sides of the engine. To make them work on both sides the engineers designed the rail to have holes in the front and rear so the rail could be flipped for the opposite bank. Then they plugged the unused hole with a dead head or dummy plug. The high pressure oil standpipes and dead head (dummy) plugs have O-ring failures that cause the oil rails to bleed down overnight or in severe instances when you stop for fuel.
These all-new standpipes from Ford have resilient O-rings and Teflon backup O-rings to prevent failure in the future.
